Rylee Smith is a designer who is passionate about housing design. They believe that good design plays an integral role in the health, stability, sustainability, and inclusivity of our communities, and sees their work as a contribution towards all of those goals. At MASS, Rylee is excited to take on projects that address the need for high-quality affordable housing in the United States, particularly in high-cost regions like the Boston metropolitan area.

Rylee works as a designer in MASS's Boston office, focusing particularly on housing. They joined the team in June 2023 and currently work on projects such as Brooke House. They previously worked as an intern at MASS and Utile, conducted urban informatics research at the Boston Area Research Initiative, and assisted in teaching architectural history courses at Northeastern University.

Rylee graduated from Northeastern University in Boston in 2023 with a Master's in Architecture degree. Their thesis, “Ephemeral Communities: Reconstituting Hotel Living at the Francis Drake Hotel,” reimagined the historic residential hotel typology for the traveling, contract, and gig workers of the 21st century. They were awarded the AIA Medal for Academic Excellence from Northeastern University in 2023.
