Paterne Niyonkuru

With extensive expertise in water resources and environmental engineering, Paterne Niyonkuru joined MASS in June 2019 to support the civil engineering team. At MASS, Paterne is involved in the design of earthworks and grading, access and hardscape, surface water drainage, rainwater harvesting system, water and wastewater treatment system as well as the design of utilities and wastewater drainage and fire water network. He is also involved in pipe and channel sizing and conducts site assessment and civil works supervision. Paterne has worked on various small and large-scale projects including the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, the Rwanda Institute for Conservation Agriculture, and Norrsken Kigali House in Rwanda. He has also worked on projects outside of Rwanda such as 14Trees in Kenya, Integrate Health Headquarters in Togo, and Manicaland Education and Maternal Health Facilities in Zimbabwe. Paterne is passionate about contributing to formulating and using rules and regulations to create a good environment for people to live in, mitigate climate change, and restore the ecosystem. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, a Master of Science in Civil Engineering (Environmental and Arid and Semi-arid Lands Engineering option), an advanced Master’s in Water and Sanitation, and a Certificate in Rural Water Supply Management.
