Built to Heal: MASS Design Group in Conversation with Dr. Paul Farmer

Among the things we experienced in 2020, one thing is certain: buildings can hurt, and buildings can heal. Our model of practice—be proximate, serve partners, and deliver mission-driven design outcomes—is working, and is needed now more than ever.

On December 17th, for our virtual year-end event, we were joined in conversation with Dr. Paul Farmer, moderated by Boston’s GBH Executive Arts Editor, Jared Bowen. Dr. Farmer’s unwavering commitment to health as a fundamental human right, along with his optimism, grit, and perseverance, have been instrumental to the ethos of MASS. We reflected on 2020 events, shared outlooks on 2021, and discussed lessons from Dr. Farmer’s new book, “Fevers, Feuds, and Diamonds: Ebola and the Ravages of History.”
