Amplifying impact through an inclusive architectural process
In spring 2016, MASS taught an advanced architectural elective for MArch students at Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston. The seminar sought to challenge the perceived dichotomy between designing for social good and good design. The first third of the class focused on different frameworks of impact that design can have. The second third taught and exercised different qualitative and quantitative methodologies for evaluating impact. The final third of the course presented methodologies for incorporating planning for impact into the pre-design process. Students applied intentional, impact-driven design ideology to their final thesis projects.
