Bishop Masereka Medical Center

Can a clinic be a community catalyst?

The Bishop Masereka Medical Center’s primary mission is to reduce the number of women who die in childbirth due to preventable causes and to educate their families on preventing disease and optimizing health. The clinic also provides treatment to all who come, including those suffering from HIV/AIDS.

The overburdened facility sits 354 km from Kampala, and serves as the district headquarters for a population of 650,000. Committed to becoming a center of excellence, BMCF (with a Board in Uganda and in Boston) is partnering with MASS to build an efficient, modern hospital for the region. The new medical center will offer improved services with new wards, reception, microbiology and hematology labs, HIV consultation, an operating theater, and radiology facilities.
