Lesedi first joined MASS in September 2017 as a Junior Associate on the Operations team, overseeing supply procurement and logistics between our two international offices, event catering, and providing general administrative support. In July of 2018 Lesedi transitioned to our Narrative team to support planning and strategy for the African Design Center (ADC) gap year. MASS launched the ADC in 2016 in an effort to empower the next generation of design leaders on the African continent. With the first cohort of ADC fellows having recently completed their 20-month fellowship, the gap year is an opportunity to strategize about the future of the ADC and identify partners to support the launch our next cohort of fellows in 2019. Apart from the ADC, Lesedi also works with our film team to support distribution and other film initiatives.
She recently graduated from the University of Connecticut where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Human Rights and Women’s Gender and Sexuality Studies. As part of her studies she participated in an exchange program with the University of Essex in England, and was selected for internships with the Business and Human Rights Resource Centre in New York City and the UConn Police Department. While in school she also worked as a Resident Assistant and as a student employee for the School of Education.
As a Botswana national, she is passionate about the intersection between civil rights, international law and the African diaspora. She hopes to continue her education and pursue another degree in the social science and law sector.
