Space & Society Program, 2021-2022 Conway Fellowship
At MASS Design Group (MASS), we believe that architecture is never neutral; it either heals or hurts. In communities around the world we have seen the role the built environment has played in propagating injustice and as architects we have a responsibility to do better. At MASS we are dedicated to the idea that design can be a force for good in achieving positive social and economic outcomes.
MASS is currently seeking applications for the inaugural year of the Space & Society Program: the 2021-2022 Conway Fellowship. The Fellowship pairs emerging architects and designers with research labs & work that addresses inequities in the built environment.
Over the course of a year, fellows will work on project teams and also develop research and community engagement projects. Although the Fellowship will be primarily based in Boston, there is the possibility of travel and/or work in other offices, depending on project scope. Work will include support for the Public Memory and Memorials Lab; however and from time to time, Fellows may work with other lab teams as they explore topics that include:
- Fringe Cities
- Food Systems Design
- Restorative Justice
- Sustainable Native Communities
Recent graduates of professional architecture programs and emerging designers are encouraged to apply. Fellows will be provided with a stipend, and should be located in the continental US, with expected travel to Boston, MA. Interested applicants should submit an application before May 21st, 2021.
