Structural Engineer/Structural Engineering Fellow

Monrovia, Liberia

MASS is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable engineering team leader to join our construction administration team in Monrovia, Liberia for the construction of Redemption Hospital. We are looking to hire a creative and self-motivated Structural Engineer or Structural Engineering Fellow to strengthen our construction administration team in Monrovia. The position will report to the Redemption Hospital CA Project Manager in the US, and will work directly with our CA team on the ground in Monrovia. The project has been under construction since August 2018. This person will take responsibility monitoring the contractor’s work, ensuring that it is aligned with the design, and leading the response to contractor queries and requests.

Desired Skills:

  • 5-10 years relevant technical experience, including both design and construction experience
  • Chartered or near-Chartered Engineer with recognized engineering institution
  • Excellent technical expertise in structural analysis and design
  • Substantial experience with reinforced concrete, masonry and timber design to Eurocodes for small to large scale structures
  • Site experience (preferably in a development context), ability to work with engineering and architectural site team, contractors, and non-technical personnel
  • Positive and proactive attitude with an emphasis on design quality and attention to detail
  • Familiar with Autodesk software (AutoCAD; Revit; Robot) effectively applies MASS methodology and enforces high project standards
  • Desire to serve the team and communities that MASS works with


  • Construction oversight to ensure the contractor's work is align with the design
  • Answering contractor queries on-site
  • Taking a proactive approach to construction oversight to anticipate potential design conflicts and proposing solutions
  • Provide technical support to engineering site team
  • Working collaboratively with MASS architects, MEP engineers and sub- consultants
