Junior Associate, Accounting

MASS is seeking a Junior Associate for Accounting to support our growing team! As a member of the Kigali operations team, the Junior Associate will support a growing office with day-to-day accounting operations including petty cash management, accounts payable, budgeting, and administration. Working directly with an Accounting & Finance Associate, the Junior Associate will have the opportunity to learn new skills while applying their accounting training to support a mission-driven organization. This person should have a knack for problem-solving and prioritization as well as a desire to work in a fast-paced startup culture and learn. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Accounting:

  • Petty Cash Management
  • Project and Operational Bank Account Reconciliation
  • Invoicing & Accounts Receivable Assistance
  • Accounts Payable Assistance
  • Regular Reconciliations of Key Accounts

Budgeting:

  • Review and follow monthly operational budget

Administration:

  • Purchasing Approval Management
  • Payroll assistance

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Associates degree in Accounting, Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Experience with bank account reconciliation, budgeting, while working under GAAP financial controls
  • Technology savvy with experience in Excel, Quickbooks and with RRA interfaces
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; Proficiency in English, fluency preferred
  • Ability to work independently, think critically, and problem solve
  • 1-3+ years experience in accounting position preferred
