Good people build empathy and humility. I suppose design can happen without these things, but where's the fun in that?

Megan Suau is a Director and registered Architect who joined MASS in 2018.  She has led several large-scale international healthcare projects from the Africa studio.  She has a passion for service and stewardship, guiding partners and communities through the design and construction process with accessibility and transparency.  

As an architect, Megan values a collaborative process to achieve innovative solutions and technical excellence.  She approaches each project with humility and purposeful inquiry to find unique personal, material, and cultural narratives.  At MASS, her major contributions include the Ellen Degeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund (Kinigi, Rwanda), Sojourner Truth State Park, (Kingston, New York), New Luanda Military Hospital (Luanda, Angola), Samajik Health Science Institute and Research Center (Dhaka, Bangladesh), Mengo Pediatric Center of Excellence, (Kampala, Uganda), the Iftiin Peace Hub (Somalia), and Nyarugenge District Hospital (Kigali, Rwanda).  

Megan graduated summa cum laude from the University of Florida with a Bachelor’s of Design, and from the University of Virginia with a Master’s of Architecture where she was the recipient of the Alpha Rho Chi Medal and the Thesis Prize.  At the UVASoA, she joined the faculty as a Lecturer and Research Director for Initiative reCOVER and the Yamuna River Project.  She has previously worked in higher education projects at VMDO in Charlottesville and KieranTimberlake in Philadelphia.    

Outside of MASS, Megan has served as a mentor and juror for aspiring architects at the University of Rwanda, Temple University, and Drexel University.  As a Florida native, she has a high tolerance for jokes about her home state and an unsurprising affinity for sunsets, beaches, and coastal resiliency.
