Cat Brownell is a Co-op Design Intern from Northeastern University who enjoys creating meaningful change in architectural landscapes. They believe in uplifting communities through beautiful and accessible design. 

At MASS, Cat is on an internship, beginning in May of 2023. In this role, Cat has primarily worked on designing community spaces and housing by synthesizing neighborhood history and needs to develop meaningful and functional designs and facades. They have worked primarily on the Brooklyn Public Library New Lots Branch and 110 Ocean Avenue housing in Revere, Massachusetts. 

Outside of MASS, Cat co-directs Freedom by Design, an organization from Northeastern University that volunteers design and construction expertise to community organizations. The club recently won an award from NCARB for their work on building a playground for a local womens and childrens shelter, and is starting work on a park theater in Roxbury. 

Cat will graduate in spring of 2024 from Northeastern with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture, a minor in Urban Landscape Studies, and Disciplinary Honors for their independent research on critical cartography.
